The upcoming TVS Apache RTR 310 has been spotted in production guise ahead of its launch in July 2017. The images give a detailed view of what will be TVS Motor Company’s flagship offering. Based on the TVS-BMW developed BMW G 310 R, the Apache RTR 310 will be the first full-faired sport bike to join the TVS line-up.
The production-ready model seen in the latest images manages to retain most of the styling bits from the concept, but the carbon fibre bodywork has been replaced by more cost-friendly materials that are finished in a matte black paint job. It is expected that Apache 310 will retain the fairing from the concept version. In front, it features twin-projector lights with LED DRLs and an air scoop, placed under the headlamps. Other dynamics such as the large screen in front shields the flow of wind and the well-placed handle-bars offer a relaxed riding position. At the back, it gets stylishly designed taillamps with LED units.
The bike shares some of the cues such as the 17-inch wheels, upside down front forks, exhaust unit etc with its German cousin BMW G310R. Power on the fully faired bike will come from the 313cc, BS IV compliant engine. This is the same unit that will power BMW G310R and G 310GS models. In terms of output, the engine will develop 34bhp at 9500rpm and 28Nm of torque at 7500rpm.
TVS Akula 310 Design
The Akula 310 concept has designed with inputs from the company’s factory race drivers under the umbrella of TVS Motor Company and BMW Motarrad JV. TVS says that the Akula 310 concept racer pays a tribute to TVS Racing’s 33 years of dominant race heritage.
The Apache 310 concept had body panels, fairing and tank. But the production version will be limited from the expensive material to bring down the manufacturing costs. It’s more likely to retain all the sharp detailing from the concept whilst lighter aluminium bits will help save the weight. TVS will be at the helm of the bike’s manufacturing and the performance-based motorcycle will have sporty chassis and stiff suspension for aggressive riding dynamics.
The aerodynamic efficiency comes from the dorsal fin and heat management gills placed under the seat and in the body frame respectively. It get the same twin LED projector headlamps. ABS is likely to be offered as standard and the Pirelli tyres could be offered as an optional.
The bike also comes equipped with on board gyro cameras, a full-digital speedometer and a steering damper for extra stability. The USD forks and radial callipers take care of suspension duties of the bike. With characteristic shape and design, the TVS Akula 310 looks like a shark.
