Skoda’s first full-size SUV, the Kodiaq, is going to be launched in our country in the coming months. While the Skoda Kodiaq scored 92 per cent crash protection for adult occupants. It scored 77 per cent for child occupants. The Kodiaq that was tested was equipped with front airbags for the driver and the passenger. Along with side airbags and a knee airbag for the driver. According to the Euro NCAP, the Kodiaq’s passenger compartment remained stable in the frontal offset crash test.
New Skoda Kodiaq Launching Details
The Kodiaq made its world debut as the Vision S Concept at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. It is base on the Volkswagen’s modular transverse matrix (MQB) platform. That also underpins the Skoda Superb and the recently launched Volkswagen Tiguan. The India-spec Kodiaq is expect to launch with the choice of two engines. A 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol and 2.0-litre TDI turbocharged diesel.

While the petrol version will couple to 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. The diesel version will feature a 6-speed DSG gearbox. It will also come with the option of a 4WD power train and will load with features. Like a 10-speaker, 575-watt Canton sound system, optional 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. With Apple Car-Play and Android Auto connectivity, built-in GPS navigation support. And wireless smartphone charging.
The Kodiaq is concerned, it’s prices are likely to hover around the Rs 25 lakh to Rs 30 lakh mark. And will compete with other SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Isuzu MU-X as well the recently launched VW Tiguan.
New Skoda Kodiaq Scored 5-Star Safety Rating
In fact, Skoda has already listed the Kodiaq on their website. And some dealers have also started accepting unofficial bookings for the SUV. The European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) has concluded its crash test of the Kodiaq recently. And the upcoming SUV seems to have passed it with flying colours. The Kodiaq has scored a five out of five star safety rating.
