Apple just quietly announced a new iPad starting at $329. Apple introducing a lower cost model of tablet to boost sales. The iPad feature a 9.7-inch screen, A9 processing chip. And up to 10 hours of battery life. Apple new iPad available to order on March 24.
The new iPad starts at $329 for 32GB with Wi-Fi. To get a cellular modem, the price increases to $459. The Apple new iPad comes in silver, gold, and space grey. Apple also dropped the price of its iPad Mini 4, which has a 7.9-inch screen. The model that costs $399 now comes with 128GB of storage.
The New iPad Features
This model of the iPad is a slight step down in features from the iPad Pro in the same size. The Pro features a 12-megapixel camera, compared to 8 megapixel for the newer iPad, plus boasts a faster processing chip.
The new iPad replaces the second-generation iPad Air. Apple is also launching a new video app called Clips. Where users can create their own videos to share on social networks. And messaging services including Facebook Messenger and Instagram.
The new iPad retains the excellent display of the iPad Air 2 With resolution 2048 x 1536 (264ppi). It looks serious good, and run all the smoother and faster with Apple’s excellent A9 chip and M9 coprocessor. It measures 240 x 169.5 x 7.5mm and weighs a shoulder-pleasing 469g.
The New iPad Highlights
Everything that we saw on the iPad Air 2 is also present, with Touch ID home button, Lightning connector. And stereo speakers, 3.5mm headphone jack power/wake button, volume controls and a SIM tray on the cellular versions.
The rear facing 8Mp camera is the same as on the Air 2. With features such as autofocus, panorana, HDR and a f/2.4 aperture. It’s also capable of 1080p HD video recording at 30fps and slo-mo recording at 120fps.
The front facing camera is a FaceTime HD lens with 1.2Mp and f/2.2 aperture, capable of 720p HD video recording. So, excellent for a tablet.
The new 9.7in iPad is attractively priced starting at £339 for 32GB. With Wi-Fi only £40 cheaper than what the iPad Air 2 was selling for until the announcement. A 128GB version is also available for £429 in addition to a 32GB cellular version at £469 and a 128GB cellular version at £559.
NEW IPAD 2017 MORE POWERFUL THAN THE IPAD AIR 2
The new iPad runs on Apple’s latest iOS 10 operating system. And uses the same A9 chip we saw featured in the iPhone 6S. That means it should be faster than the iPad Air 2. This used a modified version of the iPhone 6’s A8 chip. The base storage for the device is 32GB, although there’s also a 128GB option too.
The good news is that you’re basically getting the same display as the iPad Pro with this new model. The LED-backlit screen measures 9.7 inches across. And a resolution of 2,048 x 1,536 pixels – that’s 264 pixels-per-inch.
The primary camera offers a middling 8-megapixel resolution with a f/2.4 aperture and a five-element lens. The Face Time HD camera, meanwhile, snaps 1.2-megapixel images, and boasts a wider f/2.2 aperture.
Both models support Bluetooth 4.2 connections. Although the LTE version has added benefits like Wi-Fi calling and a bundled Apple SIM.
As far as sensors go, you’ll be getting the usual Touch ID fingerprint sensor (built into the Home button), as well as a three-axis gyroscope, an accelerometer, barometer, and ambient light sensor to boot.
