Microsoft Surface Pro 5 Brief Description and Price

Microsoft surprised everyone with its unveiling of the Surface Book laptop with the upgraded version of the Surface Pro 4. But the software maker might not bring this tablet feature to its Surface Pro 5.  Microsoft’s new Surface Book has entered gave us better battery life and an improved Surface Pen.

The timing is hardly surprising given persistent rumors about the Surface Pro 4 successor over the past year. New Microsoft will adopt a clamshell design for the Surface Pro 5 instead of two different screen size variants. It’s hard to read too much into DigiTimes’ report as the publication has a mixed record on these types of predictions. But it’s worth noting that DigiTimes first accurately reported that Microsoft was planning its Surface Studio all-in-one PC last year.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 comes with two different screen size variants, with a lower starting price of come with a $799 price in the US. The Surface comes with Ultra-light and versatile, now available with LTE Advanced. It is 3x faster than Surface Pro 4 and 50% more battery life.

A Surface Pro 5 does arrive, realistically we’d like to see an Intel Core i5-8250U to start with more expensive editions allowing for an Intel Core i7-8550U.  It is expected to sport Intel 7th Generation Kaby Lake processor, better battery life, enhanced Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

The laptop had limited demand due to the detachable design conflicting with the company’s Surface Pro line. While the hinge gap shrunk a little, most are expecting a more radical redesign for the Surface Pro 5. Especially after Porsche Design just unveiled its own alternative to the Surface Pro. If DigiTimes’ report is accurate, we’ll find out exactly what Microsoft is planning within the next month or so.

The new Surface Pro 5 entered mass production recently, says, with shipments expected to next 2-3 months. Microsoft is upgrading the Surface Pro 5 to a new Intel seventh-generation Kaby Lake processor, with a fan-less design on the Core m3 and Core i5 models.

The 8-megapixel and 5-MP cameras on the Surface Pro 5 are also surprisingly sharp, with the 5-MP front camera being my favorite of the two.
