Kawasaki has launched 3 new models – Z1000, Z1000 R and the Z250. The Z1000 R is the most powerful offering in the Z series while the Z250 is the smallest and most affordable motorcycle in the lineup.
Kawasaki have just revealed an ‘R Edition’ version of their naked Z1000 street bruiser as a new-for-2017 model. Updates to the 2017 Z1000 R include a Euro IV compliant motor without any drop in power or torque. the ignition maps now have a smoother power delivery. It also gets a revised suspension setup with a more plush setup. Minor cosmetic changes to the bike include wider mirrors, adjustable clutch lever, gear position indicator with shift indicator.

The Z1000 R has a 1043cc, in-line 4 cylinder engine nestled between the twin-tube aluminium frame develops 142PS @ 11000rpm. And a peak torque of 111Nm @ 7300rpm. Braking duties are taken care by dual semi-floating 310mm petal disc rotors with 4-piston caliper at the front. As well as a single 250mm petal disc with single-piston caliper at the rear. The Z1000 has 41mm upside down (USD) forks at the front with 120mm travel and a horizontal back-link, gas charged mono shock unit at the rear. With a seat height of 815mm, ground clearance of 125mm and a fuel tank capacity of 17 litres. The Z1000 R won’t be a difficult bike to live with on a daily basis.

The Z1000 R is shod with 120/70 Z R17 tyre at the front and 190/50 Z R17 tyre at the rear. At Rs 14.49 lakh the 2017 version of the Z1000 R is Rs 2.04 lakh more expensive than the outgoing model.
The new bike Z1000 R is fully Euro4 compliant, while Kawasaki claim they’ve managed to hit the emissions targets without any drop-off in power or torque over the existing engine. The R Edition gets its own Metallic Spark Black and Metallic Graphite Grey paint scheme. With a ‘special graphic package’, seat material embossed with the Z logo. And further individual touches adding to an incredible visual appearance.
Kawasaki India 2017 Z1000 R Highlights
The standard Z1000 will still also available in 2017, and will come in two new colour. Metallic Spark Black and Golden Blazed Green as well as Candy Burnt Orange and Flat Ebony. The Z1000 R gets better suspension components in the form of an Ohlins fully-adjustable rear monoshock and revised front fork settings to go with it. Braking has improved with new brake discs that feature grooves for better heat dissipation. It gets top spec Brembo M50 monobloc calipers that also feature on the Kawasaki H2R. The Z1000 R gets a different livery to differentiate it from the standard Z1000.
