BMW K 1600 GTL Bike 2017 Features, Review and Prices


BMW Motored announced updates to its 6-cylinder sports tourer, the K 1600 GT and at BMW’s Vision Next 100 event in Los Angeles, it unveiled a new spin-off model, the blacked-out K 1600 B bagger. BMW unveiled an updated version of the BMW K 1600 GTL Car Tourer. It is powered by a 1,649cc, inline-six, liquid-cooled engine that puts out 160hp at 7,750rpm and 175Nm at 5,250rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheel via a shaft drive through a six-speed gearbox. The suspension set-up consists of the Duolever system up front, which consists of a central spring strut, and the Paralever suspension round the back with a monoshock.

The K 1600 GTL measures a good 2,489mm in length, with a wheelbase of 1,618mm, seat height of 750mm and wet weight of 350kg.
As on the GT and B luxury tourer, new catalytic converters and updated engine management allow the K 1600 GTL’s engine to be Euro4 compliant without any loss in claimed output. It gets ABS Pro, electronically adaptive suspension, three riding modes and dynamic traction control.

Comfort features include central locking, heated seat, electrically adjustable windscreen, switchgear-mounted multi-controller and adjustable seat height. Optional equipment includes reversing aid, Akrapovic sports silencer, adaptive headlight, emergency call system, hill start assist, keyless ride, front speakers, shift assist and additional luggage bins.

Styling updates for the K 1600 GTL include new side trim panels, larger slipstream deflectors. And new wind deflectors to protect the rider’s hands, redesigned mirrors with larger faces and aspherical insets and redesigned foot guards and lower storage compartments. New colour schemes include Light white non-metallic, Thundergrey metallic and K 1600 GTL Elegance.
